When Should Your Child Have Their First Eye Exam?

We recommend scheduling your child’s first eye exam at around 6 months of age to catch early issues like lazy eye or crossed eyes. Follow-up exams should be at age 3 and just before kindergarten.

After that, annual exams are recommended throughout your child’s school years so that we can check that their eyes are healthy and their vision is developing properly.
